Bottom Line First: This Week's Chiikawa Spans Two Months
Let me get straight to the point. This week's Chiikawa lineup includes 1 reversi game scheduled for release on Oct 31, 1 movie keychain BOX pre-order scheduled for release on Sep 30, and 8 new arrivals at Japanese secondhand shops. Of the currently registered 198 items, 95 are available for purchase, 170 are preowned, with prices ranging from KRW 1,300 to KRW 552,000. With the game arriving on the last day of October and the keychains at the end of September—a month apart—you'll need to verify release timing before placing your pre-orders.
Launching Last Day of October: Approximately 158mm Reversi Game
The Chiikawa reversi game is priced at KRW 43,300 and scheduled for release on Oct 31, currently available for pre-order. The game board measures approximately 158x158x25mm and includes 36 pieces each of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi. The pieces are PVC, the board is ABS, and the decorative stickers are PET material. Designed for 2-3 players ages 6 and up, the set includes 36 piece bases, 1 board, and 1 sticker sheet—this is an actual playable game, not merely character merchandise. If you're planning to display all three character types as game pieces, you'll need to measure whether the board dimensions will fit in your display cabinet first.
Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of the Mermaid Island Island Memory Metal Keychain Collection 9Pack BOX →Late September Release: Movie Metal Keychain 9-Pack BOX Pre-Order
The Chiikawa the Movie: Secret of Mermaid Island - Island Memory Metal Keychain Collection is priced at KRW 55,600 and scheduled for release on Sep 30, currently available for pre-order. It's a 9-pack BOX configuration with each keychain measuring approximately 60x60x3mm, made from metal and epoxy resin. With random distribution of 9 types according to manufacturer ratios, even purchasing the BOX doesn't guarantee a complete set. If you're planning to attach specific movie scenes as keychains, you'll have to accept the random odds, and if you only want particular characters, waiting for individual preowned pieces might be the better approach.
Movie "Chikawa: The Secret of the Mermaid Island" Visitor Bonus charm Mini Figure (Flying Squirrel) - First Series : →8 New Preowned Arrivals at Japanese Shops: Mainly Mascots and Plush
This week's preowned arrivals include a camera-shaped light at KRW 12,900, sushi Chiikawa mascot at KRW 12,900, Q Okurumi Petit mini mascot at KRW 12,900, movie admission bonus Charm mini figure (Momonga) at KRW 25,900, otter plush doll at KRW 15,500, devil squirrel mascot at KRW 25,900, parade headband big plush doll at KRW 9,000, and MINISO China-exclusive Lunar New Year rabbit plush at KRW 34,000. The movie admission bonus was only available at theaters, so you'll need to judge based on secondhand market prices. The China-exclusive Lunar New Year rabbit was a lineup impossible to obtain domestically, and the sushi Chiikawa is specifically the chutoro version. If you collect the same characters in multiple costumes, you should take a look at the devil squirrel and headband plush.
FAQ
Why do the reversi game and movie keychains have different release dates?
The reversi game is scheduled for release on Oct 31, while the movie keychain BOX is scheduled for release on Sep 30. With a month's difference, planning to receive them in a single shipment will be difficult. The game is part of the board game lineup while the keychains are movie tie-in merchandise, so their production schedules differ. You'll need to decide first whether to display the same characters as game pieces or metal keychains, then schedule separate pre-order timing for each.
Can I complete the full set with the 9-pack movie keychain BOX?
With 9 random types distributed according to manufacturer ratios, even purchasing 9 packs doesn't guarantee a complete set. If you only want specific characters or scenes, waiting for individual preowned pieces is more reliable than buying the BOX. At approximately 60x60x3mm, these metal keychains only need one or two if you're attaching them to a bag, but if you're planning to display the complete set in your cabinet, you'll have to either accept the random odds or fill in gaps with preowned pieces.
Which of the 8 preowned arrivals is the movie bonus item?
The movie admission bonus Charm mini figure (Momonga) Series 1 has arrived at KRW 25,900. Since it was only available upon theater admission, it can only be obtained secondhand now, and this lineup features only the Momonga character. If you collect movie tie-in merchandise, you should consider it alongside this week's pre-order metal keychain BOX, but note that one is a random BOX while the other is a specific character figure.
May good fortune find its way to your display cabinets today as well.
